SIM Detroit's signature recognition of the CIOs and technology leaders who are transforming business, building high-performance teams, and shaping our region's future.

Measurable business outcomes — ROI, revenue growth, cost savings, efficiency gains, customer satisfaction, and other quantifiable results.
Transformative initiatives, competitive advantage, adoption of emerging technology, and creative problem-solving at scale.
Alignment of technology with strategy. Trust with executive peers and stakeholders. Cross-functional influence beyond the IT organization.
Talent development and retention. Inclusive leadership. High-performing teams and the culture that sustains them.
Professional, nonprofit, academic, or civic involvement beyond the daily role — mentorship, board service, STEM advocacy, and more.
Tech Leader of the Year awards are grouped by organization size to level the playing field — so the small-company CIO wearing six hats is judged beside her peers, not against the Fortune 500. Three finalists are selected per category; one winner is named at the Fall Summit.
